𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢?

I was born in Abbington, PA and grew up most of my life in Sewell, NJ before ultimately moving with my family to North Wildwood, NJ in 11th Grade. I now live in Marmora, NJ.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩/𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙪𝙥?

Growing up I was not much of an athlete at all in a conventional manner, as my life revolved around Heavy Metal, skateboarding and skateboard culture.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨?

My life today is pretty much like most people’s. I have a wife and 3-year-old son along with a business I own and manage; so I too am just living the dad life day to day, and I am very time-crunched to get my workouts in. But “family first” is my motto and I find a way to get workouts in after.

𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙏𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙤𝙣/𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨?

When I was about 30 I was managing a surf shop in Ocean City, NJ, and a 16-year-old employee challenged me to the Ocean City Triathlon. Being a pack-and-a-half a day smoker at the time I felt that I couldn’t do it, but my pride kicked in and I signed up the next day.

𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝?

I just love endurance sports and helping people! I love seeing what the human body is capable of. Seeing my own transformation from a heavy smoker to an Ironman showed me that we all can change and reach our goals.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝?

The human connection. Seeing my athletes’ faces and attitudes after they reach their goals. You can literally see the confidence grow in people as they near their goals!

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝/𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥?

As in all relationships, honesty and openness. Athletes being honest about goals and current fitness (to their coach and themselves) and coaches being honest and realistic (with feedback and direction).

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙚? 𝙒𝙝𝙮?

I would have to say that Ironman Maryland has become my favorite race. I have really grown to love the course. I have been on the course 3 times, and I like the scenery and small-town feel. For local (to the Jersey Shore) races, I love Avalon’s Islandman because it has the best food and swag bags.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙨?

Number one is hanging out with my family. I love watching my son grow up and learn new things each day. I love to go to live (music) shows and surf whenever time allows. I still consider myself a surfer before all other hobbies, even though I don’t get out as much as I would like.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡?

Patience, Patience, Patience… Yes, there are some very gifted athletes who come into the sport and find success in year one, but that is rare. For us mortals, it can take years of CONSISTENT training to reach our ultimate goals.

𝘼𝙣𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙚𝙡𝙨𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛?

Only that I also offer bike mechanic services and bike fitting! Bikes are a passion of mine and I really geek out on everything bikes from new tech to getting more aero to save a few watts.

I am also very mellow. I am not a super high energy, in your face, HOORAH coach. But just like training should be, I am a very steady and consistent voice to guide and motivate you along your journey.
