Full Service Coaching

Full-Service Coaching is coaching that is tailored to you: your goals, strengths, weaknesses, experience, injury history, work/life demands, etc. Unlike a stock training plan or an Optimal Performance Training Plan, it is adapted and adjusted continuously to meet you, the athlete, where you are in terms of development, schedule, stress levels, and many other factors. It is further refined according to your feedback and input. Full-Service Coaching is structured as a two-person team: coach and athlete. Together with your coach, you will achieve your goals and unlock your potential.

When you first start, you and your coach will discuss your goals, scheduling restrictions, and all of the other factors listed above. This will help your coach build out your Athlete Training Plan (ATP): a 10,000 ft view of your season, and a broad road map on how you will achieve your goals.

Using the ATP, and considering all of the factors listed above, your coach will design your weekly schedule and place it in Training Peaks. Each workout, its placement in terms of the day of the week, and its relation to other workouts will have been intentionally chosen for a specific reason to help you achieve your goals.

Your job is to complete the workout to the best of your ability, and then (most importantly) provide feedback on how the workout went. Your coach will adjust the plan and future workouts based on your feedback and the completed workouts.

Most people can benefit from having a coach. HOWEVER, not everyone is ready for coaching. Here are some questions you can ask yourself to see if you are ready for coaching:

  • Am I ready to commit the time, energy, and financial resources I need to achieve my goals?
    • All goals require sacrifice, some many.
  • Am I open to feedback, and willing to change how I interact with and perform in my specific sports disciplines?
    • If you are not willing to change with your coach’s direction, then there is no reason to hire a coach.
  • Am I willing to adhere to a set workout schedule and structure?
    • Your workout schedule will be designed meticulously and specifically for your success. Changing the workout schedule or structure can mess up the entire training plan and sabotage your success.
  • Am I willing to be open and honest with my coach about everything that affects my performance, including life events, work stress, etc?
    • To develop a training program that works for you, your coach needs to understand what is happening in your life. Remember, this is a team.
  • Am I willing to be patient and focus on continued success and the long-term goal over a desire for short-term, short-lived results?
    • “Gotta have it now” mindsets can sabotage your long-term success. They often result in failed goals, and/or injury. Endurance sports require years and years of consistency to have the opportunity to reach your potential. There will be short-term goals, but plan on putting in the work, week over week, year over year, to achieve your full potential.
