FAQ's
Do I have to do both Project Base Camp and Project Finish Line?
No. Project PR is designed so that each phase builds off of and compliments the other. It is best to complete both Project Base Camp and Project Finish Line to get the most out of yourself and your fitness. However, either Project Base Camp or Project Finish Line are great options on their own.
- Choose Project Base Camp if you simply want to build your aerobic engine and durability, or…
- Choose Project Finish Line if you want to peak your race day fitness to be as fast, powerful, and efficient as possible on race day.
Do I have to choose Cycling or Running? Can I choose both?
- You must choose one or the other. It is very difficult, if not contraindicative, to try and build more than one sport at a time for most people. It can lead to injury, burnout, and overtraining.
- We recommend that you pick the sport you have the largest area of growth for and focus on that. This will get you the most return on your training, and lead to your best results on race day.
- There are instructions inside Project PR on how to incorporate your other sports (swim, bike, run) into this program (essential for triathletes).
I’m new to running and/or Triathlon. Is Project PR for me?
- Not this year. However, after you gain some experience and establish a base, we hope to see you at Base Camp next year. Project PR is for intermediate to advanced athletes with at least one season of training and racing.
- A custom training plan is a better fit for you. You can schedule a consultation to learn more about that or to see if coaching is right for you here.
What equipment do I need to participate?
- Both plans can be executed using rate of perceived exertion (RPE), but a heart rate monitor, and a smart watch or bike computer are recommended for both the cycling and running plans.
- A power meter or smart trainer (that can provide power) is HIGHLY recommended for the cycling plans.
- A bike trainer is also highly recommended for the cycling plan.
What distance racing should I be focused on for Project PR?
Project PR is designed around athletes focusing on 70.3 distance triathlons and longer, or runners focused on half-marathon distance racing and longer.
